In the field of fire and EMS we often must make difficult decisions to minimize the risks to human life. Due to the number of variables involved in each emergency, there is no one size fits all solution.

Our primary concern is always for the lives of the community we serve and the safety of any on scene personnel.

Before this controlled detonation, UFA worked closely with the homeowner to remove some of her irreplaceable belongings. UFA worked very closely with UPD and the County Emergency Communications Center to evacuate the surrounding area. There were many other agencies that played a pivotal role in making this coordinated effort as safe as possible.

Week 12 at Unified Fire Authority’s Recruit Camp 57 was all ADO!

Apparatus Driver Operator is the first level of driving certification our firefighters go through in order to drive and operate these large vehicles. Recruits are taught safe and effective driving techniques, navigating efficiently through a variety of cone courses, and correct pumping operations to ensure our crew members have adequate water pressure at the end of their attack hose lines.

And yeah, we still working out every morning! 💪

105 of our UFA firefighters, staff, family, and friends joined countless others in today’s @uofuburncenter Burn Camp 5K.

This camp operation is designed for children and adults who have been in a burn incident as part of their healing and therapy from their injuries.

Many members of UFA play significant roles in the fundraising efforts, administration, camp staffing, and feeding of these camps, all on their own time.

The recruits experienced their first 48 hour shift this week as they were dispatched to a variety of simulated calls both day and night.

When dispatched, and in training, we’re all business and work, but we also get some downtime to relax, play, and have some laughs.

Our recruits only have three more weeks of prep before they hit the streets and begin the real work of emergency response.

As spring arrives, the world bursts into new life, signaling the start of the seasonal duck rescues. Station 124 in @rivertonutahgov recently came to the aid of 15 ducklings and their distraught mother. Their compassion and dedication helped reunite this little family. Great work 124!
